Privacy, data & limits
Your records
Each grower's paddocks/blocks, operators and spray records are stored under your own account only and are never shown to other users. You can download everything we hold, or delete your account and records, at any time from the Setup screen.
Who sees what
- Typed or spoken notes are sent to an AI language-model provider to turn them into a record. Voice recordings are sent to a speech-to-text provider. Neither is used by us for anything else. When no AI key is configured the app says so and uses a simple built-in mock instead.
- Weather: your block's latitude/longitude and the date/hour are sent to Open-Meteo (free weather service) to fill in wind, temperature and rain. This is model data for the area, not an on-farm measurement.
- Hosting and storage: Vercel (app and private file storage). Passwords are stored hashed (scrypt), never in plain text.
Product checks
Chemical names are matched against the MPI ACVM register of registered agricultural chemicals (1,756 products, downloaded 2026-10-16, Crown copyright, CC BY 3.0 NZ). Fertiliser names are matched against a short hand-made list that is not verified. A match only means the name looks registered. It does not say the product is right for your crop, or that your use is legal.
Withholding periods are not in the register data. Sowsay never guesses one: it shows "check label" unless you type the WHP from the label yourself.
Beta limits
- Records are summaries typed or confirmed by you. You are responsible for their accuracy and for meeting Growsafe, council, buyer or audit-scheme requirements. Not legal advice.
- No password reset by email yet. Fair use limits apply to AI and voice notes each day.
- This is an early product; export your diary regularly (PDF or CSV).
